Description

The Automatic Gentlemen is an independent game studio based in New Jersey, composed of Matt Guido and John-Paul Yunque.

History

Early history to present

The Automatic Gentlemen was founded in June of 2012, after Matt and JP met in an introductory game design course at their local community college. The two teamed up to work on a class project, which would later turn into a concerted effort to release a full mobile game, Lunch War. While waiting for technical issues with Lunch War's engine, Stencyl, to be resolved, Matt and JP continued improving the game's design and brought it to various gaming conventions. There, they talked with other developers, gaining industry advice and valuable feedback on Lunch War. In addition to implementing that feedback, they continued to earn credits to transfer to a 4-year school. Lunch War was released on July 26th, 2013 on iOS. John-Paul transferred to Drexel University in the fall semester of 2013, while Matt finished up his degree at MCCC and now attends the DigiPen Institute of Technology; all while continuing to make as many games together as possible.
